Medaram Mahajathara Boosts RTC Revenue to Rs 20.24 Crore

The massive turnout at Medaram Mahajathara has translated into a significant financial and operational achievement for the state RTC, which generated Rs 20.24 crore in revenue during the festival period. Officials described the operation as one of the largest coordinated transport efforts in recent times.

At a review meeting held on Monday at the Zonal Staff Training College, RTC Executive Director KRJPD Solomon praised employees for their dedication. He said transporting lakhs of devotees safely to and from the Medaram Mahajathara was a collective effort that reflected discipline and teamwork. Despite heavy passenger rush, drivers and conductors maintained coordination and ensured smooth services.

According to Warangal Regional Manager Darshan Vijay Bhanu, the corporation deployed 1711 buses and operated 25027 trips exclusively for the festival. In total, buses covered 2806155 kilometres during the event. The large scale movement of pilgrims resulted in revenue of Rs 20,24,28,124 for the RTC.

Passenger data shows that 12,33,585 devotees travelled using RTC services during the Medaram Mahajathara. Of them, 6,08,686 women availed benefits under the Mahalaxmi scheme, officials confirmed. The scheme contributed significantly to the overall passenger count during the festival.

At the conclusion of the meeting, senior officials honoured staff members who delivered outstanding services during the Medaram Mahajathara. Deputy Regional Managers K Bhanu Kiran and P Mahesh were also present and appreciated the coordinated execution of transport arrangements.

Officials said the successful handling of Medaram Mahajathara traffic not only strengthened public confidence in RTC services but also demonstrated the organisation’s capacity to manage high pressure festival operations efficiently.
