A major railway development project in Telangana is expected to reshape connectivity and transportation in Bhadradri Kothagudem district over the next few years. Officials are planning a new railway corridor between Manuguru and Ramagundam, which could significantly improve travel access for remote regions and industrial areas.
The proposed railway line will stretch for about 207.8 kilometers and is expected to be completed within five years under a public private partnership model. The project carries an estimated cost of Rs 5818.45 crore. Once operational, the route is expected to reduce the distance between Manuguru and Ramagundam by nearly 90 kilometers, making travel faster and more convenient.
The project is expected to benefit remote tribal regions in districts including Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mulugu and Peddapalli. Areas such as Medaram, Bhupalpally, Tadwai and nearby regions are likely to receive improved railway access, opening up better transportation options for residents.
Apart from passenger travel, the railway line is expected to support movement of coal, fertilizers, food grains and minerals. Officials believe the new corridor could strengthen economic activity while also improving transport infrastructure for industries and businesses.
The railway route may also bring advantages for religious and tourism travel. People traveling to destinations such as Medaram and Bhadrachalam could enjoy easier and lower cost transportation options. The line is also expected to serve as an alternative route to sections of the major Delhi Chennai railway network.
Officials are planning to complete land acquisition and project approvals in the coming period before moving into construction work. Railway authorities will oversee approvals and planning while a private operator is expected to manage construction funding and long term maintenance responsibilities.
Additional railway developments around Bhadradri district are also progressing. Proposed and ongoing projects including Bhadrachalam Road to Kovvur and other connecting routes are expected to create stronger links with cities such as Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam. Over the next five to ten years, these projects could transform Bhadradri into an important railway junction connecting multiple regions.
