Hyderabad Police Commissioner Sajjanar has called on bank employees to stay alert and play a proactive role in preventing cyber fraud, especially when customers display unusual behavior during financial transactions.
He emphasized that sudden withdrawals or rushed financial decisions could indicate that customers are under pressure from cyber criminals. In such situations, bankers should engage with customers, understand their concerns, and alert authorities if needed.
According to Sajjanar, victims of digital scams and fake investment schemes often panic and withdraw large amounts of money or take loans against gold. These warning signs should not be ignored, particularly when elderly customers are involved.
He stressed that bankers act as the first line of defense in safeguarding public money. If any suspicious activity is noticed, they should immediately inform police or contact emergency helplines like 1930 or dial 100 to prevent further losses.
Sajjanar also urged the public to remain cautious and aware of cyber crime tactics. He noted that a coordinated effort between banks, police, and citizens is essential to build a safer financial environment.
In a separate warning, he raised serious concerns about food adulteration, calling it a direct threat to public health. From everyday items like milk, tea powder, and cooking ingredients to packaged foods, adulteration is putting lives at risk.
Highlighting enforcement efforts, he said a special task force has intensified action against such illegal activities. In recent operations, authorities registered dozens of cases, seized large quantities of adulterated products, and arrested multiple offenders.
Sajjanar made it clear that strict action will continue against those endangering public safety, whether through cyber fraud or food adulteration, reinforcing the commitment to protect citizens on all fronts.
