The Telangana government has introduced another welfare initiative aimed at improving nutrition and early education for young children. Under the Telangana Breakfast in Anganwadi scheme, children attending Anganwadi centres will soon be provided morning breakfast in addition to the existing meals.
The decision reflects the state government’s continued focus on welfare programs. Currently, children visiting Anganwadi centres receive midday meals along with milk and eggs. With the new scheme, the government plans to include breakfast as well, ensuring children start their day with proper nutrition.
State Women and Child Welfare Minister Seethakka officially spoke about the plan while inaugurating a newly established prefabricated Anganwadi centre at Isamia Bazar in Koti under the Nampally ICDS project. During the event, the minister said the government aims to transform Anganwadi centres into modern early childhood learning spaces similar to primary schools.
To support this goal, the newly opened centre has been equipped with advanced facilities such as an AI based reading assistant, digital learning systems, gamified education tools and immersive learning environments. These initiatives are expected to improve the quality of early childhood education in the state.
Minister Seethakka also highlighted that the government is already providing uniforms to children attending Anganwadi centres. In addition, a pilot project to distribute milk to Anganwadi children has been launched in Mulugu district. The government is planning to expand this initiative to other districts in the coming months.
The Telangana Breakfast in Anganwadi program is expected to be implemented soon across the state. Officials believe that providing breakfast will improve nutrition levels and help children stay active and attentive during learning activities.
Apart from child welfare initiatives, the government is also focusing on support for working women. Plans are underway to construct hostels for working women in Hyderabad.
Two working women hostels are set to be built in Rahmath Nagar division of Jubilee Hills constituency with an estimated cost of Rs 20 crore. Minister Seethakka laid the foundation stone for these buildings along with local representatives.
The government has sanctioned 16 working women hostels across the state, with four allocated to Hyderabad district. Out of these, two hostels will be constructed in the Jubilee Hills constituency. Each hostel is expected to provide accommodation for around 1000 working women, offering safe and affordable housing facilities.
