In a compassionate move, the Telangana government has stepped forward to support a young boy who suffered severe injuries during a temple structure collapse at Medaram, ensuring both medical care and long term assistance for his family.

The incident occurred last month when a newly built structure at the Sammakka Saralamma temple site collapsed, injuring six year old Yuvan while he was playing nearby after returning from school. His parents, who are associated with temple duties, were present in the area at the time.

Following the accident, the child underwent critical medical treatment, which resulted in the amputation of his left leg, while his right leg required surgical support. Officials confirmed that the state has covered all medical expenses and will continue to provide advanced care, including the fitting of an artificial limb to aid his recovery.

Revenue and Housing Minister Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy stated that the government is committed to ensuring the child’s rehabilitation and future well being. As part of the support measures, one member of the boy’s family has been offered employment through the Endowments Department to provide financial stability.

The minister reviewed the situation while assessing ongoing development works at Medaram, which hosts the Sammakka Saralamma Jatara, one of the largest tribal festivals held every two years. He directed officials to speed up pending works and strengthen infrastructure to avoid similar incidents in the future.

Authorities have been instructed to complete all remaining construction activities without delay and ensure proper safety measures are in place. The government is also focusing on creating permanent facilities for the large number of devotees who visit the site throughout the year.

In addition, officials have been asked to fast track land acquisition processes under the second phase of the development plan, aiming to improve overall infrastructure and provide a safer environment for pilgrims visiting the temple.
