Telangana Government Plans Affordable Housing Push for Middle Class Families

The Revanth Reddy government is drafting an affordable housing policy to offer low cost homes for middle class families in Hyderabad and key cities easing rent pressure and fulfilling home ownership dreams.

  • Affordable housing policy targets middle class families in Telangana cities.
  • Hyderabad and tier two towns to get low cost housing projects.
  • Construction to begin after policy approval in new financial year.

The Telangana government has taken a major step to support middle class families struggling with rising housing costs. Under Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the state is preparing a new affordable housing policy aimed at making home ownership possible in major urban centres.

The policy focuses on Hyderabad along with Warangal, Karimnagar, Khammam, Nizamabad and Mahabubnagar, where property prices have increased sharply. By offering homes at reasonable rates, the government aims to reduce rental burdens and provide long term housing security to low income and middle income families.

According to officials, the housing department is working with expert consultancy support to finalise guidelines by the end of February. The final policy is expected to be ready by March, after which cabinet approval will be sought. Construction activities are planned to begin in the new financial year under a public private partnership model.

The housing programme will be implemented in three phases. In Hyderabad, multi storey buildings will be developed in identified slum areas to provide permanent homes for residents. Large housing projects are also planned in the proposed Future City zone. In tier two cities, government land has been identified for building affordable housing towers for lower income and middle income groups.

The initiative is part of the Telangana Rising Vision 2047 and is expected to bring significant relief to middle class families who have long awaited affordable housing options in urban areas.
