A significant development has emerged in the widely discussed Moinabad farmhouse drugs case, as the Telangana High Court granted bail to BRS leader and former MLA Pilot Rohith Reddy. The decision comes after detailed hearings on his bail petition, offering him relief after spending time in judicial custody.
The court, however, made it clear that the bail comes with strict conditions. Rohith Reddy has been directed to appear before the investigating officer regularly and fully cooperate with the ongoing probe. To ensure he does not leave the country, the court also ordered him to surrender his passport to the authorities.
The case, which created a strong buzz across the Telugu states, dates back to March when a joint operation was carried out by the Telangana Eagle Task Force and local police. Acting on specific intelligence, officials raided a farmhouse in Moinabad in Rangareddy district, where an alleged drugs party was underway.
During the operation, police arrested Rohith Reddy along with his brother Ritesh Reddy and Delhi based businessman Namit Sharma on March 14. The accused were later remanded to judicial custody following court orders. Authorities also registered serious charges, including allegations that those present at the party consumed narcotic substances and even opened fire on the police during the raid.
Given the gravity of the case, the Telangana government constituted a Special Investigation Team to conduct a detailed probe. Investigators have since questioned the accused multiple times in custody as part of the ongoing inquiry.
Earlier, a lower court had rejected Rohith Reddy’s bail plea, prompting him to approach the High Court. After hearing arguments, the High Court has now granted him conditional bail, marking a turning point in the case.
While granting relief, the court issued clear instructions that Rohith Reddy must not influence witnesses under any circumstances. With the investigation still underway, the case continues to remain under close watch. Reports indicate that Rohith Reddy is expected to be released from jail soon following the court’s order.
