Telangana has taken a leading position in the country by emerging as the top state in natural farming, with a significant shift toward chemical free agriculture.

According to recent data presented in Parliament, over 5 point 53 lakh hectares of land in the state are now under natural farming practices. This marks a major transformation in how agriculture is being approached, focusing on sustainability and soil health.

A large number of farmers have embraced this change. More than 4 point 52 lakh farmers across Telangana are now practicing natural farming, reflecting growing awareness about long term benefits and reduced dependence on chemical inputs.

The expansion has been supported through structured initiatives such as the National Mission on Natural Farming. The state currently has hundreds of clusters that help farmers adopt and implement these practices effectively.

To further strengthen the movement, thousands of new farmers were recently provided with farming kits ahead of the kharif season. This step is expected to accelerate adoption in the coming months.

Financial support from the central government has also seen a sharp rise, indicating increased focus on promoting sustainable agriculture. Higher funding has enabled better implementation and outreach of natural farming programmes.

Crop performance under natural farming has shown encouraging results. While yields may be slightly lower compared to chemical farming, farmers are earning better returns due to premium pricing for organic produce.

Experts point out that natural farming improves soil quality and ensures long term productivity, unlike chemical methods which can degrade land over time.

With rising participation and strong policy support, Telangana is setting an example for other states in building a more sustainable and farmer friendly agricultural system.
