  • Moderate rainfall till April 3 across many districts
  • Heatwave conditions continue with temperatures above 40 degrees

Telangana is set to witness a mix of rain and rising heat over the coming days, with the Hyderabad Meteorological Centre issuing a rain alert across the state. Officials say a trough system stretching from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu is driving the expected weather changes.

Moderate rainfall is likely to continue for the next six days, with conditions expected to last until April 3. Several districts including Adilabad, Nizamabad, Karimnagar, Nalgonda, Khammam, Sangareddy, Medak and others may receive showers accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning.

Strong winds moving at speeds of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour are also expected, and some areas could experience hailstorms. Authorities have advised residents to stay cautious during sudden weather changes, especially during thunderstorms.

Even as rain is predicted, heatwave conditions continue to grip parts of the state. Over the past few days, temperatures have crossed 40 degrees Celsius in several districts, prompting the weather department to issue orange and yellow alerts.

Nizamabad recorded the highest temperature at 40.5 degrees Celsius, while districts like Jagityal, Siddipet, Nalgonda and Nirmal reported similar high temperatures. Officials warned that maximum temperatures could rise further by 2 to 3 degrees in the coming days.

Health experts have urged people to take precautions amid the rising heat. They recommend drinking plenty of water and fluids such as buttermilk, coconut water and lemon juice to stay hydrated. Avoiding direct sun exposure between late morning and afternoon hours is advised.

People stepping out are encouraged to wear light cotton clothing and use protective measures such as umbrellas, caps and sunglasses. Experts also suggest choosing easily digestible foods like fruits and vegetables and taking rest if signs of fatigue or dizziness appear.
