Telangana to Introduce Single Session Schools From March 16

Telangana education department announced single session schools from March 16, summer holidays from April 24, revised Ramadan timings and reopening date June 12 citing rising temperatures and student safety statewide.

With summer heat intensifying earlier than usual the Telangana education department has issued fresh instructions to protect students from harsh weather while ensuring academic continuity across the state.

According to the orders all schools in Telangana will switch to single session classes starting March 16. Classes will be held from 8 am to 12 30 pm followed by the mid day meal. Schools hosting Class 10 examination centres will conduct single session classes from 1 pm to 5 pm.

The department has also announced the summer vacation schedule for the current academic year. Summer holidays will begin from April 24 while schools will reopen for the 2026 27 academic year on June 12 officials confirmed.

In addition the department has revised school timings for Ramadan. Government and aided Urdu medium schools will function from 8 am to 1 30 pm during the fasting period with provisions to conduct additional classes if required to cover academic hours.

Education officials said the decisions were taken in view of rising daytime temperatures and feedback from parents and teachers to ensure student safety and comfort.
