Sharp criticism has emerged against the Revanth Reddy government, with MLC Vijayashanti raising serious concerns over the treatment of Telangana movement activists. Speaking in the Legislative Council, she questioned the delay in implementing key promises made before elections.

Vijayashanti reminded the government that assurances such as providing government jobs to families of martyrs and a monthly pension of 25000 rupees were central to gaining public support. However, even after nearly two years in power, there has been little visible progress on these commitments.

She also pointed out that thousands of students and youth who participated in the Telangana movement continue to face pending police cases. The promise to withdraw these cases and issue identity cards to activists has not been fulfilled, she said, raising doubts about the government’s intent.

Highlighting the sacrifices made during the statehood movement, Vijayashanti stressed that the current leadership exists because of those struggles. She questioned whether leaders would be in power today without the contribution of activists, making her remarks a focal point of political discussion.

Calling it a moral responsibility, she urged the government to act immediately and provide recognition, support, and rehabilitation to those who fought for Telangana. Ignoring their contributions, she warned, would become a lasting historical mistake.

Her statements have triggered debate both within political circles and among activists, putting pressure on the government to respond and take corrective steps.
