Women economic empowerment is the foundation of Telangana’s progress, said Minister Seethakka, highlighting the state government’s focused push to strengthen women financially. Addressing a national financial literacy conference, she underlined how empowering women is transforming families and communities across the state.

Presenting key data, the minister said nearly 46.68 lakh women are actively participating in economic activities through 4.37 lakh self help groups. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, the public government has prioritised women centric policies and ensured steady institutional support.

Through the Indira Mahila Shakti programme, women self help groups have launched more than 2.05 lakh micro enterprises, creating sustainable income opportunities. Over the last two years alone, bank loans worth more than 35 thousand crore rupees were sanctioned to women groups, significantly boosting their financial independence.

The minister also pointed out that women groups earned profits of around 3.5 crore rupees during the Sammakka Saralamma Jatara with government support. To ensure regular income, women collectives are being encouraged to operate RTC rental buses, petrol pumps and solar power plants.

Expressing concern, Seethakka noted that women’s contribution to India’s GDP stands at only 18 percent compared to nearly 40 percent in developed nations. She stressed that increasing women’s participation in the economy is essential for long term national growth. Union Minister Pemmassani Chandrasekhar later praised her address and the Telangana model of women empowerment.
