The Andhra Pradesh School Education Department has introduced major reforms related to teacher promotions and professional development. The new decisions are expected to bring stricter standards into the education system while also encouraging teachers to learn modern international teaching methods.

According to the latest government orders, clearing the Teacher Eligibility Test will now be compulsory for teachers seeking promotions in government schools. Officials stated that teachers aspiring for posts such as School Assistant and Grade Two Headmaster must qualify in TET to become eligible for promotion.

The changes were introduced in line with National Council for Teacher Education guidelines and Supreme Court directions. Authorities also decided to include separate columns in seniority lists to record TET marks and the specific paper qualified by teachers.

Education officials clarified that every teacher handling classes from 1st to 8th standard must meet the TET requirement, regardless of when they entered government service. The move is aimed at improving teaching standards and ensuring qualified educators are promoted to higher positions.

In another important decision, the state government approved a foreign educational tour for 31 award winning teachers along with a few officials. The selected group will visit Finland from August 17 to August 26 to study advanced teaching practices and school education models.

The delegation is scheduled to visit the University of Turku in Finland, which is known for its globally respected education system. Teachers will observe classroom methods and primary education practices followed there.

After returning from the tour, the participants must submit a detailed report within a week explaining how the Finnish education model can be adapted and implemented in Andhra Pradesh schools. The government believes the initiative will help strengthen education quality and introduce innovative teaching practices in the state.
