Hyderabad police have uncovered a new method of drug distribution with the bust of a dead drop drugs network operating in the Gachibowli area. Acting on specific inputs the Eagle Team and Gachibowli police jointly conducted raids in Kondapur leading to the arrest of three accused and the seizure of cocaine.
Investigators revealed that the gang was supplying drugs using the dead drop method to avoid direct contact with buyers. Orders were taken through messaging platforms payments were routed digitally and drugs were left at isolated locations with only the location details shared with customers.
The main accused Murali Krishnam Raju a dropout from West Godavari district allegedly entered the drug trade due to mounting expenses and addiction. He sourced cocaine from contacts in Bengaluru and Goa and sold it in Hyderabad at higher prices by expanding his local network.
Police said two associates including his cousin were involved in distribution and logistics. Fifteen drug consumers linked to the case were identified and issued notices as part of the ongoing investigation.
Officials stated that the case reflects how traffickers are constantly changing tactics even as enforcement agencies strengthen surveillance across the city.
