Telangana has received a major infrastructure boost after the Central government approved three large development projects worth Rs 5,681 crore under the Urban Challenge Fund. The projects are expected to strengthen urban facilities and accelerate development in several important regions.

Union Minister Bandi Sanjay shared the announcement through social media and described the approval as an important step for the development of multiple districts in the state. He said the projects would help improve infrastructure in Warangal, Karimnagar and surrounding areas.

Among the approved proposals, the largest allocation of Rs 4,674 crore has been set aside for modernization of the Warangal sewage system. Karimnagar has been sanctioned Rs 840 crore for model roads and civic infrastructure improvements, while another Rs 166 crore has been approved for the Khammam Warangal Karimnagar corridor project.

According to details shared by the minister, the Karimnagar package includes spending on model roads, skywalks, foot overbridges and junction development works. Funds have also been planned for restoration of stormwater drainage systems, flood prevention measures and integrated solid waste management facilities.

Bandi Sanjay also stated that Karimnagar was not initially included in the state proposals but was later added after discussions and interventions at the Central level. He credited the support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in helping move the project forward.

Officials believe these projects could significantly improve urban infrastructure and reshape development in several Telangana cities over the coming years. The minister also mentioned that an initial phase of funding had already been released earlier as part of the project implementation process.
