Indiramma Houses Extended to Gruha Lakshmi Beneficiaries With Fresh Guidelines

The Telangana government has decided to cover unfinished Gruha Lakshmi houses under the Indiramma Housing Scheme, offering clarity on payments, eligibility, and construction norms to help beneficiaries complete long stalled homes.

  • Unfinished Gruha Lakshmi houses will get Indiramma support.
  • Payments will be released in stages after basement level.
  • Strict size and eligibility rules will be enforced.

The Telangana government has taken a key step to support poor families whose houses remained incomplete under the earlier Gruha Lakshmi scheme. Many beneficiaries had begun construction during the previous administration but were forced to stop midway after funding was discontinued.

After the change in government, the Gruha Lakshmi scheme was withdrawn and replaced with the Indiramma Housing Scheme, which provides higher financial assistance for home construction. However, thousands of partially built houses were left at foundation or pillar level, causing years of hardship for beneficiaries.

Responding to these concerns, the Revanth Reddy government has decided to bring eligible Gruha Lakshmi beneficiaries under the Indiramma Housing Scheme. Fresh guidelines have now been issued to ensure transparent bill payments and completion of stalled houses.

Officials clarified that only houses meeting Indiramma norms will be considered. The built up foundation area must be between 400 and 600 square feet. If the existing basement is smaller, beneficiaries must extend it to the minimum size. If it exceeds the limit, it must be restricted to 600 square feet.

No payment will be made for construction already completed up to the basement level. The remaining assistance of four lakh rupees will be released in stages directly to beneficiaries bank accounts. One lakh rupees will be paid at roof level, two lakh rupees after slab completion, and the final one lakh rupees after finishing works.

The government said field level verification will be conducted before approving each case. With these orders, houses that stood incomplete for nearly three years are expected to finally turn into livable homes, restoring hope for thousands of families across the state.
