Telangana Women and Child Welfare Minister Danasi Anasuya Seethakka has issued a strong warning against what she described as false propaganda surrounding corruption allegations in government welfare schemes.
Speaking at a Congress workers meeting in Mulugu, the minister firmly rejected claims that irregularities occurred in the purchase of mobile phones for Anganwadi teachers. She said the phones were procured at a price of 11650 per unit, while misinformation was being spread claiming higher costs.
Seethakka challenged critics to provide concrete evidence if they have any proof of corruption. She made it clear that she has not been involved in any wrongdoing and accused opposition leaders of deliberately spreading misleading information.
Responding to allegations related to reconstruction works at the Medaram Sammakka Saralamma temple, the minister denied any corruption and stated that all works were carried out transparently. She even demanded that a central investigation agency probe the matter if necessary.
The minister also accused opposition parties of targeting her after the Congress came to power in Telangana. She claimed that attempts were made to defeat her politically through large scale spending and negative campaigning.
Seethakka further alleged that during the previous regime, efforts were made to influence her through inducements, which she refused. She said such tactics are now being replaced with baseless allegations aimed at damaging her reputation.
The controversy intensified after opposition leaders claimed irregularities in a scheme involving the procurement of over 38000 smartphones under a central government initiative. However, Seethakka dismissed these claims and maintained that all procedures were followed properly.
Reiterating her stance, the minister warned that those spreading false information about government schemes would face consequences and urged the public to rely only on verified facts.
