New Buildings Planned for 24 Junior Colleges with 593 Crore Investment
Government plans to construct new buildings for 24 junior colleges under PMJVK scheme with joint central and state funding to improve infrastructure and education standards in minority dominated areas.

The government has initiated plans to improve the infrastructure of government junior colleges across the state. As part of this effort new buildings are proposed for 24 junior colleges with an estimated cost of 593.70 crore rupees.
The proposal has been submitted by the Intermediate Education Department under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Vikas Karyakram scheme. Director of Intermediate Education Krishna Aditya recently sent the proposal to the government for the financial year 2025 to 26.
The project will be funded jointly by the central and state governments. Out of the total estimated cost of 593.70 crore rupees the central government is expected to contribute around 355.62 crore rupees which accounts for sixty percent of the funding. The remaining 237.10 crore rupees will be borne by the state government.
Officials from the Telangana Education and Welfare Infrastructure Development Corporation have already conducted field visits to assess the needs of the colleges. Based on the increasing number of students they prepared estimates for new buildings additional classrooms laboratories and other facilities.
Government junior colleges currently provide several benefits including free admissions free textbooks and laboratory facilities. Due to various educational initiatives and support from school committees the number of students enrolling in these colleges has increased significantly.
As a result there is a growing demand for better infrastructure including more classrooms and laboratories. The new buildings are planned mainly for colleges located in minority dominated areas.
Under this proposal colleges in districts such as Hyderabad, Rangareddy, Medchal, Nalgonda, Adilabad, Nirmal, Mahabubnagar, Nizamabad and Sangareddy have been selected. In Hyderabad alone eleven colleges including Nampally, Falaknuma, Golconda, Borabanda, Musheerabad, Hussaini Alam, Maredpally, City College Mysaram and Kachiguda are included in the list.
Other colleges selected for new buildings include institutions in Qutbullapur, Kukatpally and Malkajgiri in Medchal district. Colleges in Patancheru and Ramachandrapuram in Sangareddy district and Rajendranagar and BHEL in Rangareddy district are also part of the plan.
In addition colleges at Bhainsa and Mudhole in Nirmal district along with Nalgonda Girls Adilabad Boys and Mahabubnagar Girls colleges will receive new infrastructure. Once completed the project is expected to provide improved facilities for more than twenty five thousand students across these institutions.
