Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced that the state government has sent 25 teachers to Finland to study advanced education systems being followed internationally. He said the government is prepared to send more teachers to other countries if necessary to bring the best educational practices to Telangana.
Speaking at the Education Week celebrations organised at LB Stadium under the Praja Palana Pragathi Pranalika programme, the Chief Minister said the government is launching development works worth Rs 1100 crore for the education sector.
Revanth Reddy stated that education is the strongest tool for bringing social transformation and explained that this was the reason he chose to personally handle the Education Department. He said Telangana had faced discrimination in the education sector for decades, which was one of the reasons behind the Telangana movement that began in 1969.
The Chief Minister stressed that every child deserves access to quality education and promised large scale reforms in government schools. He said the state government had already filled 11000 teacher posts soon after coming to power and completed the recruitment process within 60 days without major controversy.
He also revealed that around 36000 teachers were transferred transparently and without disputes. Revanth Reddy urged officials and educators to examine why government schools were falling behind in academic performance and assured that education funding would be increased by 15 percent.
Highlighting welfare measures for students, the Chief Minister said the government is planning to provide breakfast along with midday meals in government schools. He added that pilot projects have already started in selected schools to improve nutrition among students.
The Chief Minister observed that while the education sector has changed significantly across the world, outdated syllabus patterns are still continuing in many places. He also pointed out that the absence of a proper Ten Plus Two system has contributed to rising dropout rates among students.
Revanth Reddy further stated that the government has taken up the construction of integrated schools to eliminate caste discrimination and create equal educational opportunities for children from all backgrounds.
