Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy has indicated that the next Assembly elections in the state are likely to be held in 2029, suggesting a possible shift from the existing electoral schedule.

Speaking to the media during his visit to the national capital, the Chief Minister explained that the elections, which are otherwise due in late 2028, may be postponed by a few months in line with broader national plans.

He pointed out that the central government is considering the idea of conducting simultaneous elections across the country. If implemented, this could result in Telangana going to polls along with other states and the general elections in 2029.

According to the Chief Minister, such a move would bring Telangana elections closer to the timeline followed by Andhra Pradesh, potentially leading to both Telugu states voting around the same period.

Traditionally, there has been a gap of several months between Assembly elections in the two states. However, the proposed alignment could change that pattern, marking a significant shift in the electoral process.

The Chief Minister’s remarks have sparked discussions on the possibility of synchronized elections and their impact on governance and political strategies in the state.
