The ongoing Telangana RTC strike has prompted swift action from the state government, with discussions intensifying at the highest level to find a resolution. The issue has now reached the cabinet, signaling the urgency to restore normal transport services.
Late night consultations were held as Transport Minister Ponnam Prabhakar and Minister Vivek Venkataswamy met the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister to review the situation. The leaders examined the demands raised by RTC employees and explored possible solutions to ease tensions.
Sources indicate that out of the 32 demands put forward by the workers, the government is already inclined to accept a majority of them. Key concerns such as salary revision, pending dues, and the question of merger are expected to dominate discussions during the cabinet meeting.
An initial report prepared by a committee of senior IAS officers has been submitted and will be reviewed in detail. This report is likely to play a crucial role in shaping the government’s next steps.
Following the cabinet meeting, the government is expected to announce the formation of a ministers committee. This panel will directly engage with employee unions and work towards ending the strike through structured negotiations.
With public transport services affected across the state, the government is under pressure to act quickly. The proposed committee is seen as a step toward bridging the gap between the administration and RTC workers and bringing the strike to an end.
